Odo is a private logbook for your car, built by Longbeard. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app. The short version: your data stays on your device. We have no servers, and we never collect, upload, sell or share your vehicle, trip, location or cost data.
What we collect
What stays on your device
Everything you enter — vehicles, fuel fill-ups, service records, reminders, parts, damage, upgrades, expenses, trips, route points, Places and settings — is stored only on your device, in Odo's private local database. You can export your history to CSV, and uninstalling Odo permanently deletes everything it stored.
The only times data leaves your device
- Purchases. If you buy the Fuel Log or subscribe to the Logbook, the transaction is handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details, and their privacy policies apply to the purchase.
- Map tiles. When you open a map in the drive logbook, the visible map area is requested from OpenStreetMap to draw the basemap. Only the map viewport is involved — your stored trips are never sent.
- Optional address lookup. If you turn on and use address lookup, the single address or coordinate you're looking up is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service for that lookup only. It is off by default and only happens when you tap it.
These are the only network calls Odo makes.
Location
Location is used on your device to map and measure your drives. If you turn on automatic trip logging, Odo asks for background ("Allow all the time") location so it can record a drive while your phone is in your pocket. Your location is used to draw and measure trips locally and is never uploaded to us. You can turn auto-logging and location off at any time in the app or your device settings.
Children
Odo is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. It contains no ads and no social features.
Not tax advice
Odo's tax and allowance figures are estimates based on published rates you can verify and override. They are not tax advice — confirm current rules with the relevant authority or a professional before you file.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it.
